General NSYO Auditions
Each year, the NSYO holds auditions for entrance into the orchestra. These auditions typically last about 10 minutes, consisting of a short solo, scales, study and orchestral excerpts. The auditions take place every May. To view the individual instrument requirements, download the following PDF:
AUDITION APPLICATION DEADLINE IS
APRIL 22, 2013
FOR THE 2013-2014 SEASON
The auditions are open to all musicians between the ages of 12 and up, and take place in May in front of a panel consisting of the Music Director and the appropriate instrument coaches. Candidates are notified of acceptance in May. NSYO members must be full-time students.
A $25.00 non-refundable fee must be included with the application form. Applications must be received by the NSYO office no later than April 22, 2012.
Audition dates are TBA, and wil be in Halifax by appointment, or a taped audition may be sent in, postmarked no later than April 22, 2013.
